Jay loves Katelyn | Brighton Wedding Photographer

I first met Katelyn a few years ago when she was a bridesmaid in Paige & Morgan’s beautiful wedding back in 2014. I remembered her as being sweet as pie and just so much fun. I’ve long said the best clients are ones you’d want as friends, and she is the perfect example of that. So you can imagine the squeals when I got the call that she hadn’t yet planned any of her wedding, but she was engaged and wanted me to be her photographer. Yes, please!! ♥

I LOVED Katelyn’s lacey, open-backed dress. It was so perfect on her!! MARRIED!!! I’m pretty sure Katelyn is one of the most joy-filled brides ever. It just poured out of her all day! SO happy!! Since they were freshly husband and wife, I talked them into a few minutes of trampoline celebrating…hey when your venue has a trampoline, you can’t really pass it up…JOY, I tell you.Towards the end of their reception, we snuck out for a few minutes of golden-hour photos, and it did not disappoint!!Jay and Katelyn, what a perfect, love-filled day you created!! I am so blessed to call you friends, and so thankful you made me a part!! Cheers!!

Jay & Katelyn | In their own words…

How did the two of you meet?
My best friend Naomi is Jay’s sister, Jay was out visiting from Minnesota for Easter and we had a get together and he and I hit it off from there, we talked for about 3 months every single day and decided to see each other again in South Dakota (a halfway meeting point) and we just knew from then on that it was something special! I moved to Minnesota that same year in December of 2016 and it has been the best decision I have ever made!

What was your favorite memory from your wedding day?
Katelyn: We waited to see each other until I walked down the Aisle. That was the best moment, seeing Jay for the first time that day and how many emotions were running through us both and just getting the set in stone feeling that this was right!
Jay: Seeing Katelyn walk down the aisle with her dad, I was overwhelmed with so much happiness and I can’t wait for our future together!

Funniest memory from your day?
Katelyn: When we got to the venue, there was a trampoline and my mom, sister and I all got to jumping, mom was not a fan and she had the best face and we just had the best bonding time and all the dance parties the ensued in the bridal suite after that!
Jay: Beating everyone at the shot gunning contest before the ceremony and someone missing and spraying their beer all over the front of them.

What was your favorite detail?
I think our favorite detail, honestly, was the cake and food table!! They way that everything was set up and looked was perfect, and so many people that is a huge thing for weddings is cake and food (and drinks) and we were really happy with the presentation of it all!

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?
We wouldn’t change a single thing. All of our vendors were great, our guests were great and we just had the greatest day!

Any advice for future brides and grooms?
As simple as you try to make things, it all turns out larger than you’d expect! Just enjoy every moment of planning and make sure to take some time for yourself, it can get stressful!! Don’t wish away the days, the day comes and goes so fast….HAVE FUN!!!

Tell me about your honeymoon.
We have not gone on our honeymoon yet! Living in the great north we wanted to wait for the -40 degree weather before jetting off to a tropical location! We are in the works for a beautiful Bahama vacation in February!!
